About Image Outline Maker
The Image Outline Maker converts visible boundaries in a PNG, JPEG, or WebP into ordered paths rather than connecting unrelated pixels. Use the included sample or choose a local image, then balance threshold, simplification, point density, and minimum path length. Points, lines, and mixed rendering let the same trace work as a clean outline, a dotted study, or a connected node drawing.
The source and result stay side by side so you can judge what the trace keeps. Processing is cancelable, preserves the source aspect ratio, and runs on your device. SVG is best for scalable paths; PNG is convenient for image workflows. A transparent background keeps both the space around the subject and open areas inside the contour free of a baked-in canvas color.
Useful for
- Logo, object, and silhouette studies
- Transparent contour overlays for layouts
- Simplified reference lines for craft or classroom work
- Point-and-line interpretations of personal images
How to use this tool
- 01
Choose an image
Open a validated local image or load the sample. Clear silhouettes and strong value boundaries usually produce the most readable trace.
- 02
Shape the contour
Tune threshold and simplification, then set point density, path length, drawing mode, node style, and colors.
- 03
Compare and export
Inspect source and result at the original proportions, choose an opaque or transparent background, and download SVG or PNG.
Frequently asked questions
Is my uploaded image sent to a server?
No. Image decoding, contour extraction, preview, and export run locally in the browser.
Why did the result contain few or no paths?
The image may have low contrast at the current threshold. Move the threshold toward the subject tone, reduce the minimum path length, or try a clearer source.
Does transparent export remove the subject interior?
The export contains only the selected dots and lines. All other areas, including open interiors, remain transparent when transparency is enabled.
